Jazz singer Liz McComb is performing at the MIPCOM Man Of The Year dinner honouring Discovery's John Hendricks. McComb's style, which embraces gospel, soul and blues, has evoked superlatives on both sides of the Atlantic and the distinctiveness of her sound has evoked comparisons with Edith Piaf. One reviewer said: "The music of Liz McComb is the opposite of 'show business'. It is a popular art form that reaches a mass audience, but does so directly, without compromise and in a personal way." The Cleveland-born singer's performances have been recorded on audio and video, and her sound was used by choreographer Bill T Jones in his American dance showcase.
